About Martha

As an Artist:

My goal is to create art that people can connect to, enjoy, discuss, wonder about, share, and appreciate.

You might like a piece of art because of the colors, or because it reminds you of something, or you know the person who made it. There are a million reasons that a person likes (or dislikes) a piece of art, and none of those reasons is wrong.

If we cannot talk about a piece of art, does it really serve a purpose? I welcome and encourage conversations about artworks from all perspectives, as it is an amazing opportunity for me to learn and grow as an artist and fellow human being. The creative process inspires me and I am always looking for new ways to expand my knowledge and skills.

I have created artworks that have been professionally scanned and printed for sale. I have also created artworks specifically for people who have contacted me for commissioned work. Currently, I am in the process of creating additional original works that can be scanned for prints, or might remain original paintings for the right buyer.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or ideas. If you would like a different size of a print or a painting than what is listed in the “Shop,” please let me know. If you would like to commission a specific piece of art, please fill out the “Contact Martha” form and let’s chat!

Thanks for stopping by!
And if you do nothing else today, try to make someone else smile. You’ll feel great and also make someone else’s day!

My story:

I grew up in Northfield, MN and graduated with a Visual Arts degree from Brown University. At various points in my life I have lived in RI, MA, NE, and I currently live in a northern suburb of Minneapolis, MN.

My amazing careers have included running my own swimming lesson business for eight years, coaching club and high school swimming for 15 years, being a full-time Firefighter/EMT for five years, and most recently teaching high school Art for 18 years.

I believe life is full of adventures, even if that means simply getting up in the morning!
